What Shows Up When Someone Googles Your Business?

17 April 2026 · Stellr Team

When someone Googles your business, they see a lot more than just a link to your website. Understanding what appears — and controlling it — is essential for making a great first impression.

The Knowledge Panel

This is the box on the right side of search results (or at the top on mobile) that shows your business information at a glance: name, address, phone number, hours, photos, and — most prominently — your star rating and review count.

Your Star Rating

The first thing people notice is your star rating. A 4.5 with 200 reviews communicates "trusted and popular." A 3.2 with 8 reviews communicates "risky." This number, more than anything else on the page, determines whether someone clicks through or moves on.

Recent Reviews

Google prominently displays your most recent reviews. If your last review was three months ago, it suggests your business might not be active. If you have reviews from this week, it signals a thriving business. This is why consistent review collection matters so much.

Your Responses

Google shows owner responses below reviews. Potential customers often read these to gauge how a business handles both praise and criticism. A thoughtful response to a negative review can be more persuasive than the review itself.

Photos

Customer-uploaded photos and your own photos appear prominently. Make sure your official photos are high-quality and represent your business well. Regularly add new photos to keep your listing fresh.

Questions & Answers

Anyone can ask (and answer) questions on your Google listing. Monitor this section and answer questions promptly and accurately. Unanswered questions look neglected.

Take Control

If you haven't claimed and verified your Google Business Profile, do it now. It's the only way to control what appears when customers search for you.
